The Rolling Thunder of Heavy Metal

Have you ever heard a song that took you back? Took you to a place in your past? A moment you may have forgotten? But you hear the first few notes of a melody and suddenly, there you are? You lose touch with here and now. You pass thru space and time. You arrive. Your moment is vivid and real - colors so crisp, sounds so clear. You turn and you see her face. no lines, no heartbreak. You're standing on the beach, the sand under your feet. The cool breeze and salt from the blue-green ocean. The seagulls cackle and dive. The waves rush in and crash...you're there. It's real. You're in love. The time is now. Tell her...

Baker Street. Your Time is Gonna Come. I'm not in Love. We Will Rock You. Straight Outta Compton. Rocky Mountain High. Wonderwall. Wiser Times. Come sail away. Time. Peggy Sue. Bohemian Rhapsody. Echoes. Poison. Maybe I'm amazed. Meatplow. Adhesive. Lilly. Happiness is a warm gun. Feel Good Hit of the Summer. Telephone Line. I dig Love. February Stars.

So many tunes. There are too many to list.

But each has the power to send me on my way. Each journey as real and powerful as the day I booked 'em. Now I ask, what other mechanism made by man has that kind of power? Song is a gift. And it's power is available. All you have to do is allow it in. Let It become part of the fabric of your life. Then at any moment, hearing one of your life songs will send you on your way...

On November 15, thru the power of music and Jammin Java's Music Makes Life Better foundation, we will create a memory for a very special person - a friend of mine nicknamed Curly Top...and we will do it thru music. Friends and family and even a few strangers will fill JJ. And we will shine the light on someone who needs it. Someone who has earned it.

You see, Curly Top was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2015...and we've watched this monster try to steal her soul, her smile, her love of life. But Let me assure you, her soul is intact. She is as bright as the moment I met her. Her smile a mile long and 10 miles wide. It this fight and spirit that have inspired us to hold a benefit in her honor. All proceeds will go to ALS research. But the real push is for her to feel the power of all that love in one room, pointed Directly at her. Thru music we have the opportunity to bring a mob together in one place, for one special purpose. And if we do it right, Curly Top will feel the power of our support, our admiration, our gratefulness. She will know that in fact it has been, and will continue to be. our honor...

My hope is that at some point in the future, if she wishes to do so, Curly Top can dial up this moment thru a life song and journey back to this moment in her life when all of her world came together to honor her with all of the love and respect she so richly deserves...
