Q&A with Jared & The Mill

What was the first concert you attended? Billy Joel & Elton John, obviously a game changer.

Where and when was the first show you played? My first show ever was a talent show in High School! Mike (Banjo player) and I played Cortez The Killer by Neil Young.

Which of your songs is your favorite and why? I really love all the songs me and the guys play, but I think my favorite is Messengers, I think it’s my best writing yet, and I love the harmonies in it.

If you could open for any artist in the next year, who would it be? It’s be a dream come true to open for The Head & The Heart! they’re my favorite band, but I also think it’d be a great mix of music.

What 3 artists have you listened to obsessively in the last month? First Aid Kit, Led Zeppelin, Stergill Simpson, get hip to all 3.

What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to be the crocodile hunter, then I wanted to be a doctor, I finally grew up and settled on musician.

What is your most embarrassing moment? I dropped a microphone at a talent show in High School the year after Mike and I played the show I talked about earlier.

What is your favorite phrase? Whatever you are, be a good one.

Cat person, dog person, or both? Dogs, 1,000,000,000%

Books or movies? I think both, books carry a lot of value for pursuing knowledge or being taken away to some other place and time; but, movies are great if I just want to turn my brain off and take in visuals and sound.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I’m actually a human being.

Lets say you have a tennis ball problem, and need to catch a rabid giraffe, what water gun would you choose for your eye protection? I’d have to say vespa, mostly because bananas don’t wear shoes.
