What was the first concert you attended?U2 Joshua Tree tour 1987 (I wish I could say I was 5 when I went, but I wasn't) Where and when was the first show you played? (Feel free to send a picture!) A hometown yearly festival called Tucker Days with my band 'This Island Earth' in Tucker, GA 1989
What is your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experience? [WARNING: rated NC-17] I was on tour with Ten Out of Tenn (10outoftenn.com). We had just finished a show at Doug Fur in Portland, OR. The bus was parked around back and we all had to load out around the block. Next to the bus was a dumpster...against the dumpster were two (quite attractive) girls--one pretty much completely naked while her girlfriend was openly and unabashedly pleasuring her. They did not mind us walking by them...at some points we had to move around their escapades. I think there was an exhibitionist fetish thing going on. Needless to say, it was quite memorable. Oh, Portland.
Which of your songs is your favorite and why? There's a song on my last record called "The Angels Were Singing" that I think is my favorite. I think it's my favorite because it is completely in harmony with the though and emotion behind the song. It touches what I hope to communicate as a songwriter--conveying the thoughts and emotions that make up a certain experience. It's also one of the most personal songs I've written.
If you could open for any artist in the next year, who would it be? Elbow
What 3 artists have you listened to obsessively in the last month? Daughter, Beck (and Taylor Swift...on constant rotation...I have 3 daughters and there's just no way around it).
What did you want to be when you were growing up? A cowboy or professional skateboarder. I opted for cowboy.
What is your most embarrassing moment? I think I've repressed it
Cat person, dog person, or both? Dogs. Only mid to large size dogs...if it looks like a rodent or an Ewok, it's not a dog. Bernese Mountain is the ideal dog.
Books or movies? Books.
What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I'm a high school drop out.
