If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is, too. Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate yourself. You are better than you think.” - Tim Ferris, The 4-Hour Workweek
I am sharing this quote for the third time on this blog because I am continually amazed at how deep our insecurities go. So many of us have no confidence in our very own thoughts, ideas, and interests. And as a result, we end up living according to other people’s opinions of us or we just get caught up in the crowd. It’s bad…it’s really bad.
I feel I could write a book on this subject but for now I will leave you with this un-edited flow: There is only one you. There never was and never will be another you. Those eyes you are seeing with right now…no one else sees through those eyes. No one else has your perspective on life. This fact alone should validate you. You are a badass. You are a superwoman. Don’t let your inner critic rule you with all this talk of how you’re too fat, you’ll never be as good as the girl over there, you missed your chance, you failed too many times, you’ll never live your dreams, you’ll never change your circumstances. These are all lies. Know it. You gotta get real that you have an inner critic ruling your life…and then you gotta kill your inner critic. Stab him in the throat once and for all so he can’t shout you down any more. And then replace all your fear with love, all your insecurity with hope, and take a confident step out in faith, and be the best of whatever you are.
