One of the great things about LIVE improvised music is experiencing the musical interplay that goes on between musicians. I love watching/listening to skilled improvisers play off each other's dynamics, rhythms, harmonies, and melodies. It can be sweet, angry, humorous, exciting, etc. It's such a singular and entertaining form of communication. Charlie Hunter is here this Friday. He's a world renowned guitarist with a unique style that lets him play a bass part and lead or chord part simultaneously. He does it with such soul and feeling. Watching him play a duo show with a drummer is just a remarkable experience. Here's a video. Watch the musicians faces. They're having so much fun. It's a musical conversation. Tickets are available here.
