Where and when was your first show?

My first show was when I was 15, in a caged tennis court at the city park in Twin Falls, Idaho. It was for my little brother's all-star baseball team. Me and my best friend Blake played Violent Femme covers to the kids and their parents. I don't remember much about it except that all these little kids were in uniform and at one point they started a conga line to Blister in the Sun.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

Either Neil Young and Paul Simon. Neil Simon. Paul Young. One of those guys.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

I was on tour in Alaska when 9-11 happened. Like, the original 9-11. Planes were grounded for days and I ended up having to hitch-hike from Anchorage, Alaska, to Seattle. Across the tundra and through the Yukon territory and everything. It took 4 days and it was the first time I saw the Northern Lights. I was 21.

Favorite Food:

Sushi. Or coffee.

Favorite Drink:

Oh. Coffee. Or bourbon. Specifically Basil Hadyn's.

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?

I would have the 1970's version of Gene Wilder play me. Because he played Willy Wonka. And everybody loves Willy Wonka.

What two words would best describe your music?

Quirky heart.
