Aaron Crawford and The Bad Cards (formerly Rude Buddha) are here Saturday for their 2nd Annual Bad Sweater Contest Show. Check out Mei's fun Q&A with Aaron below!

Where and when was your first show?

My first show solo was at The Viper Room in Los Angeles Sept 2010, I remember it well because I got into it with Gary Busey outside the club.  He got all loud with me and my friend and we didn't have any of it. Some people broke it up quickly before it escalated into Busey going down. He was great in The Buddy Holly Story, but dudes a weirdo. Show was packed and turned out to be one of my all time favs.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

Over the years this answer has changed. I feel like my influences change during different phases of my life. I used to answer this question with The Beetles or Bob Marley, because every song written by Lennon/McCartney or Bob Marley, I have loved and my two favorite songs, "A day in the life"-Beatles and "Badcard"-Bob Marley, have greatly influenced my music. But now I would say that I dont have a main influence. A great song is what I'm about. One day I'm listening to Rancid the next Al Green the next Arctic Monkeys. the next Frank Turner etc.   If the song has substance and moves me, I'm into it no matter the genre. If you listed genres and asked me to answer this question, my answer would be "all of the above". (I'm currently listening to Prince "Da Bourgeoisie")

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Well, my most memorable experience is coming home from a tour that seemed to drag forever, and the last show being the DC 101 Chili Cookoff (2006). I was super worn down and excited to be home. We (Rude Buddha) were the 3rd band on and I didn't know that our single at the time was doing so well here at home.  When we finally hit stage, I didn't know if we were going to have a crowd of people staring at us wondering what band they are watching, or a crowd that knew who we were. So we came out with the song that was getting the airplay "Miss California" and the crowd erupted. Hearing 20k people singing a song you wrote in your bedroom is a very overwhelming experience.  Most off the wall experience is probably The Agora Theatre, Cleveland Ohio. We were touring with our brothers in Ballyhoo, and somewhere through the evening, "caps" got into one of my beers.  I ended up running through the streets naked eating paint chips off the walls of buildings, begging aliens to beam me up for a glass of water.  Gnarly..

Favorite Food: I love Mexican food. Fish Tacos are my fav for sure and I could eat guacamole on anything.

Favorite Drink: I'm a hard cider drinker and I love tequila. (blue agave only)

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?   I don't think there are any actors out there that could portray me, or nail down my character.

What two words would best describe your music?  Raw, Melodic
