Artist Q&A

@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Antigone Rising

AGR1

Antigone Rising burst onto the national scene in 2005 with an outstanding live show and great songs. They toured with The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and more. We have great memories of their shows here at Jammin Java from that time. They're back with a new EP! Get tickets here.

Where and when was your first show?

Antigone Rising's first show was at a cafe in the West Village, NYC called Cafe Figaro.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

It's impossible to pinpoint one artist as our main influence as we're all influenced by various people. But I think we'd all agree Tom Petty, The Eagles, The Allmans, The Beatles, Stones - they've all impacted how we think and go about what we do.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Probably the night Greg Allman rolled out on stage behind his Hammond organ to play with us one night in Kansas City. That was a major life highlight.

Favorite Food:

Kristen - Liver and onions.

Nini -   seitan marsala with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach

Dena -  Italian - pizza, eggplant parm & pasta - which I try not to eat very often.   But my favorite food that I eat regularly is grilled fish & veggies.

Cathy -  Filet mignon, medium rare. Garlic mashed potatoes and spinach.

Favorite Drink:

Kristen – Whiskey

Nini -  Jack Daniels Tennessee honey (neat on a cold day in a snifter or with crushed ice and ginger ale on a summer day)

Dena -  Craft beer & decaf coffee

Cathy -  water, coffee and beer (preferably Stella). Each are my favorite at the time I drink them!

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?

Cathy would be Kristen Wiig, Nini would be Sofia Vergara, I'd be Claire Danes or Johnny Depp, and Dena would be Sandra Bullock because Sandy's a box office draw.

What two words would best describe your music?

If The Eagles were pretty and The Allmans had no facial hair.
