@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Elenowen

elenowen

Elenowen are here this weekend with Green River Ordinance. We've been looking forward to this two-night stand for a while! Tickets are almost gone - and may be gone by the time you read this - but get them while they last here.

Where and when was your first show?

A couple weeks before our first record came out, we played in this little theatre above a coffee shop in Nashville called Bongo Java. We weren't really expecting anyone besides a few friends to show up, but about 30 people ended up coming, which packed the place out. We were blown away.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

That's always a tough question, because we're constantly being influenced by not only all kinds music, but life circumstances and the relationships we have. However, Nicole grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac, and we find ourselves going back to their music for inspiration quite often. When I started tapping into songwriting back in high school, I quickly latched onto Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, & David Gray. Their simple approach to writing stuck with me then and still does today.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Last year we played a run of shows with our of our best friends, Carolina Story. The last show of the run was in Charlotte, NC at The Evening Muse. It was a sold out show and a blast all around. We played the early show that night and were initially planning on going back to the hotel for an early bedtime (like we typically do). For whatever reason, we all decided to stick around for the late show, which was a fun bluegrass band from Nashville. We ended up getting the whole crowd on their feet dancing and partying the rest of the night. Nothing too crazy, but it was the perfect way to end a run with some of our favorite people.

Favorite Food:

Quality pizza and cheeseburgers. Like goat cheese, pineapple, red onion, bacon kind of pizza & grass-fed, fried egg, aioli kind of burgers.

Favorite Drink:

Vietnamese iced coffee with extra espresso from 8th & Roast in Nashville, and pretty much any kind of bourbon.

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?

Ryan Gosling & Jennifer Lawrence.

What two words would best describe your music?

Honest & vibey
