Artist Q&A

@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Mike Clem (Eddie From Ohio)

Mike Clem is a long-time friend of Jammin Java, a stellar musician/songwriter, and one of the funniest guys we know. He's here for his annual birthday show with The Michael Clem Trio this Saturday!

Where and when was your first show?

Lewinsville Elementary School, McLean VA, circa 1977. I was in the 5th Grade with my band playing a concert in the cafeteria. I attached a photo. I think we were loud and incomprehensible.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

I love and admire so many different artists, but for me, it always begins and ends with the Fab Four.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Not kissing up, but aside from numerous great Eddie from Ohio recollections, I still have the best memories of my 40th Birthday solo show at Jammin Java. I played solo, save for a few guests. I wasn't confident I could play 15 minutes. I played nearly 2 hours.

Favorite Food: I love salmon. I love sushi. A good red delicious apple rocks, as does a perfectly ripened banana.

Favorite Drink: Right now, I'm a big fan of Decaf Spiced Chai Tea.

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?

Since Cate Blanchett did such a kick ass job as Bob Dylan (I'm Not There), maybe Ellen DeGeneres would be fitting. Or Kristen Wiig.

What two words would best describe your music?

Ornery Americana

Birthday wish…

Serenity & Peace of Mind, selfishly

For others, I wish the same.
