Where and when was your first show?
It was at an after-school youth drop-in center in West Hartford, Connecticut when I was 17. My father was volunteering there and organised for me to play a short concert. I played a rambling, semi-improvised 12-string guitar composition for about 20 minutes. I was very nervous. When I finished and looked up, everyone was clapping and saying nice things about what they had just heard. Then director of the center handed me a $10 bill. I couldn't believe I had just gotten paid for having so much fun.
What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?
There are too many to be able to narrow it
What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?
Playing at the UNESCO International Jazz Day in Odessa, Ukraine last May. Odessa is an amazing city that I had always wanted to visit ever since seeing the 1925 film The Battleship Potemkin in high school. The people I met were warm, the architecture was stunning and the food was awesome I performed twice while I was there. The audiences for both shows were fantastic. Would love to go back.
Favorite Food: Almost too many to mention. As a traveller, a food lover and an avid cook I love to experience new tastes from around the world. Favourites include Italian, French, Mexican, Spanish, Chinese, Cajun, Korean, Japanese, Hawaiian, Malaysian, Thai, Indian, Polish and, most recently, Ukrainian.
Favorite Drink: Whisky, especially single malt scotch and small-batch bourbon.
If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?
Not sure...but they would need to be creative, resourceful, slightly crazy, and have wide-ranging tastes and interests. Daniel Day Lewis perhaps?
Cat-Person, Dog-Person, or both?
More of a cat person these
What two words would best describe your music? Motion. Story-telling.
