Artist Q&A

@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Run River North

RunRiverNorth-z

Run River North is a new band that's received a lot of acclaim lately. They've gone from local stages in LA to appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel show in front of millions. They're here Tuesday with local favorites The Cowards Choir. Tickets are going really fast, so get em soon!

Where and when was your first show?

Our first show was at the Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles. It was in Nov, 2011 for an Asian American talent competition called Kollaboration. We auditioned the song Monsters Calling Home. We ended up losing to a man with two yo-yo's but we had a fun green room (deer head statue and fancy purple rugs) and one of our favorite bloggers Phil Yu of angryasianman.com named us his favorite band at the time.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?

With all six of us in the band, there isn't one main influences. We actually like the fact that everyone continues to draw from different sources.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Touring through the northwest with Moon Taxi. Well, touring with moon taxi in general, but there was a portion of the drive where the snow covered forrest and mountains opened up straight out of a scene from Jurassic Park. A collective tear was shed by the band and Daniel took out his violin to play the theme song. It was glorious.

Favorite Food: burgers, all day, every day

Favorite Drink: whiskey - lagavulian 16. Or Dr. pepper. But sometimes water. Apple Juice is good on Tuesdays though.

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?

The original cast of the power rangers, American version. Forrest Gump (not tom hanks) would play the antagonist.

Cat-Person, Dog-Person, or both?! Not sure how to answer for the entire band, it's split within the band so... Orangutan. Alex loves his dog though - Kobe. (photo below)
