Artist Q&A

@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Street Corner Symphony

Street Corner Symphony are one of the best a cappella groups on the national scene today. Their shows here have been thrilling and truly world-class. They're back September 20! Get tickets here.

Where and when was your first show? The first time we gave a real performance was in front of a studio audience on The Sing-Off (2010) in Culver City, CA. But right after all that, we did a Nashville show at Exit/In, where Ben Folds and Alison Krauss joined us for a couple of tunes. We also had a string of shows opening for Ben Folds in early 2011. Omg, y'all.

What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence? There's always the stock answer (but no less true): The Beatles--hands down. But you can hear overtones of Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder. And the goat that sings that Usher song.

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences? One was a week-long cruise in the Mediterranean; we performed the second night on the ship, then we had the rest of the time to visit the Amalfi Coast. And drink. The other was the Ben Folds tour. We'd do it again in a heartbeat, too.

Favorite Food: We've got six dudes. So pizza, ribs, burgers and anything from the Jammin Java menu covers it pretty well, I think. ;)

Favorite Drink: Whiskey.

If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself? Jeremy: Ben Stiller Richie: Richard Dreyfus Mark: Gregory Peck Kurt: Elmo or Haley Adam: Leo DiCaprio or Joseph Gordon-Levitt Jonathan: Megan Fox

Cat-Person, Dog-Person, or both? Richie has a dog, and Adam has a dog named Meeshka:

What two words would best describe your music? Awe & some.
