Where and when was your first show?
Our first show was at a church/rec hall in western, MA. It was before we had recorded any songs in 2005. Our close friends and family were there, and we played the first three songs we had ever written together. Our parents told us it was great, but let’s be honest…We did know we wanted to keep doing it after that though.
What band/artist would you consider to be your main influence?
We have learned a lot from artists who have careers that have lasted. In terms of bands from the States, we really admire what artists like Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, etc etc have done with their careers. They write what they want to write, are darn good at it, and have managed to keep touring and reaching new audiences for decades. We’re influenced by their music, for sure, but also the way they’ve managed their careers.
What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?
One of the most memorable experiences for us so was being invited to play The Rock Boat earlier this year. The company that runs it, Sixthman, does an amazing job putting on a music festival on a cruise ship for 4 days. They do a lot of different trips each year, and we were honored to be a part of it. We met so many new people and a lot of great bands as well. The whole thing was awesome. Very little sleep. Lots of music. Lots of food. Few pina coladas.
Favorite Food: For tour we’re going to have to agree on burritos. In general- Brendan: Lobster. Dave: Shepard’s Pie. Ben: A weird concoction of chorizo, eggs, and potatoes. Ryan: I’ll have what they’re having.
Favorite Drink: Ben could give a seminar on the importance of water, so we’re all trying to be well-hydrated this summer.
If you were to have a film/movie based on your career, which actors or band would you select to portray yourself?
We may be able to quote all of Blood Diamond…so maybe we could all pick an actor from that one and have them do it. That movie doesn't have A TON to do with our career (diamond and violence wise), but it’s a great cast. We’d need Leo to play another character though…possibly our merch guy . None of us in the band are worthy of Leo.
Cat-Person, Dog-Person, or both?
We are now officially dog people. We had this little guy come up to our house late at night a few months ago. We tried to find his owner but it didn’t look like there was one. No collar or anything, and nothing at the shelters. His name is Roscoe, and we will miss him on this tour while he finishes his shots haha.
What two words would best describe your music? Ice Cream
