Here's another cool interview from Mei! This time she talks to Tennessee singer/songwriter Jill Andrews. Jill is here June 23!
Where was the first show you performed at? In college I worked as a cocktail waitress at The Holiday Inn. There was a stage there and on Fridays and Saturdays comedians would come and do stand- up. On an off night my friends pushed me to get up and play for some of the regulars in the bar. It was really embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as the tuxedo shirt and vest that I had to wear to work every night.
What artist/ band would you say you are most influenced by? Probably Patty Griffin. I still remember hearing her for the first time..Her music made me feel something that I hadn’t really felt before. It was so raw and heartfelt….it seemed so honest. It was amazing to hear someone sharing their deepest darkest secrets and emotions with the world. That inspired something in me.
What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experience? I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Hanks at a show once. He was exactly how I had always hoped he would be. He was the life of the party, so friendly, genuine, and sweet.
Favorite food Sushi hands down. That’s my… stranded on a desert island/last meal kinda food.
What two words would best describe your music? Cash money
As heard on Grey’s Anatomy. (ep 9x22 - aired May 2nd, 2013)
All advanced ticket holders will also be entered to win a special merch package. One lucky winner will be announced during the night of the show!
