Artist Q&A

@JamminJavaMei's Q&A With Jillette Johnson

Jillette Johnson

Jillette Johnson wowed the crowd when she was here with Kris Allen a few months ago. We're thrilled to have her back for a co-headlining show with Satellite on August 18 (with a cool giveaway) Mei caught up with Jillette for this fun Q&A.

Where was the first your first show?

My first full show where I played my own songs was at the Sidewalk Cafe in NYC's Alphabet City. I was 12. I actually went to the Sidewalk Cafe the other day for the first time in 12 years and I had a margarita to celebrate.

What artist/ band would you say you are most influenced by?

Joni Mitchell has had a huge impact on the way that I approach songwriting. The freedom she allows herself, coupled with her profound ability to truly say something, makes her an incredible role model for me.

Favorite Foods:

Chocolate Whiskey Kale Mushrooms Bacon Cake

What is one of your most memorable or off-the-wall touring experiences?

Driving across Utah through the Red Rocks during the most bizarre version of a blizzard, listening to really twisted underground electronica. It was breathtakingly beautiful, terrifying, and right out of a David Lynch film.

What two words would best describe your music?

Searing and Fluid.
